Google Plus Introduction
In the video I give you a quick run through about Google Plus. The more I interact with G+ the more I like it.
The first way G+ was introduced was that it was a search engine that happens to be social. That means that posts to G+ are indexed. If you know about SEO (Search Engine Optimization), then you understand the value of backlinks.
Basically, when more sites link back to your site, Google thinks you are important and raises you higher in the ranks. Posting on G+ and including a link to your blog or webpage gets you better ranking. Fun stuff!
(NOTE: In my Entrepreneur’s Notes, this was the first time I was introduced to G+. I will have further training when I get to that part of my notes.)
Here are some features that I find very helpful.
Hangouts – You can have a live video conversation with multiple people for free!
Circles – You can create circles of specific groups (types) of people. Then, when you log in, you can select to see just the people in that group. If I am at work and I want to see only people I work with, I click on my ‘work’ circle and that is the only people I see posts from.
Communities – There are groups called communities. If you are part of a community, and post on that community, only people in that community can see that post. The cool thing is that you can connect with thousands of like-mined people by joining communities that you relate to. For me, Youtube and Entrepreneurs were the main types of communities I focused on. But you can use hobbies, movies, books, etc. to make connections with people who relate to the same things you relate to.
Here is some helpful training if you want to know more about Google Plus:
Martin Shervington: Martin has a great accent and is a guru when it comes to Google Plus. He has some great insights and has free training for personal or business use of G+.
Mike Allton: I just found this guy this week. He created a G+ University. It is a lot of links to specific article to help you learn about G+.
I am sure there are many others to learn from, I just found these guys helpful. Hopefully these help you learn about Google Plus, too.
Are you using Google Plus? If so, how? If not, why not? Share it on our Youtube or GooglePlus.
