I was born an entrepreneur always wanting more out of life, asking the why questions and looking for ways to make money since elementary school.

I remember being as young as eleven years old and creating ways to make money.  It was nearing November and we had a group of six solid friends who wanted to celebrate Christmas together.

None of us had any money, but we wanted to decorate our ‘club’ for Christmas. Our club was a few board haphazardly thrown together behind a shed near my house.

I thought it would be good for us to buy each other presents…who doesn’t like more presents?

Long story short, I rallied the troops to make some money.  I went out to all the doors in the neighborhood and offered raking services.  A few of my friends joined me.  Others found a few things to sell. Honestly, I think some of them just brought money from their couch cushions.

It was at this young age that I learned the power of vision and the power of laziness.

Those who bought into the vision of a sprawling Christmas party, jumped in and put all the work in.  Others, just did enough to participate.

We had a party and I think we only had two dollars to spend on one another, but it was a success.

I don’t remember what I bought, nor do I remember what I got.  What I remember, was knocking on doors, doing some work and the feeling of freedom that came with it.

Even at eleven, I understood there was something about making money that brought freedom.
